Where can I go to sign the petition?

Contact us and we'll let you know of upcoming events where one of our members will be, or just click on our Events page and see Upcoming Events and "register" so we can let you know if we'll have a booth or if well be circulating the event with clipboards.

How else can I help?

  • Enjoy Social Media?  You can spread the word to your friends.  Like PCRG's FaceBook page:  Portage Community Rights Group

  • Like to keep up with the news?   Contact us to sign up for our Newsletter/Shoutout for occasional news related to democracy, Community Rights and sustainability.   You can alert PCRG members & friends about threats to our democracy

  • Like to talk to People who care about democracy?   You can spend an hour with a core member helping collect signatures for our local County Charter.

  • Like to spread the word about our work?  You can host a house party with your friends and we'll come and talk to them, or arrange for your club or Social Justice church group to host a session on our rights.  You can use one of our short videos or ask a core member to come and speak.

  • Outraged by the corporate profits having more power than human rights?   You can write a letter to the editor (we can help with with facts)

  • If you belong to a group that is focused on contacting elected officials, let them know about our movement to change the laws that keep well intentioned officials from supporting WE THE PEOPLE.

What's involved in collecting signatures?

Only voters registered in Portage County are eligible to sign the petition.

Signing only gives voters the right to vote on the charter; signers don't need to be certain they support every part of it.

  • We can train you, give you a petition, handouts explaining the charter, information about where you can join one of our core members at a table.

  • You can collect outside a public library or on any pubic street or park.

  • You can collect among your neighbors, friends, book club or other group you belong to.
